HDMI to VGA cable

Active vs. Passive: Because HDMI is digital and VGA is analog, you must ensure the cable is active (features a built-in chipset). Passive cables will not work. 

Audio Limitations: VGA cables only carry video. If you need sound, look for an adapter with a built-in 3.5mm auxiliary audio port. 

Directionality: These cables are one-way only—they transmit signals strictly from HDMI to VGA. You cannot use them to connect a VGA output to an HDMI display. 

Power Requirements: Most cables draw sufficient power directly from the HDMI port, but high-draw devices (like gaming consoles) may require a powered adapter.
